Thank you to all who made it out to Move Dance Think Fest.
Keep your eyes and ears open, we are planning the 2nd installment of the festival.
In partnership with Headlong Studios, Zornitsa Stoyanova, Kristen Shahverdian and Jacelyn Biondo are starting a bi-annual festival with the goal of continuing conversation and sharing ideas.
How it started and what it is about:
The three of us have been thinking a lot about presence and its relation to performance as of late. Kristen thinks of presence as a place of losing oneself and of being incredibly aware of oneself. She says it is the place where the space between audience and performer has volume and electricity. Zornitsa is particularly interested in presence during interaction with the audience; she calls that the social aspect of presence during performance. Jacelyn finds presence to be a consuming holding environment. She loves that presence can demand things, both beautiful and uncomfortable, of observers.
